Meet Our New Rector! After a search that has taken nearly two years, we are pleased to announce that the Rev. Chris Jillard, 56, has accepted the call to become our new rector. Chris is the rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Altoona, Penn., a position she's held since her ordination seven years ago. Chris and her husband Rick, retired from the Navy Reserve and a career in sales and management, hope to be in the area by late October. Chris expects to begin her duties Nov. 1 and will preach Nov. 2 for All Saints’ Day. We will have just one service that Sunday, at 10 a.m. Chris got her Masters of Divinity from General Theological Seminary in New York and was ordained in 2001, becoming a fifth generation clergyperson in her family. At St. Luke’s she has focused on growing and developing lay ministry and leadership, integrating youth into parish ministries and guiding the parish in articulating its vision: Passion for God, Compassion for People. Before seminary she was the Assistant Director of the county library system in Harrisburg, Penn., overseeing nine libraries, a budget of $2.5 million and staff of 150. Her particular ministry interests are balancing celebration and relationship-building with spiritual growth and service to the outside world. She is also keenly interested in youth and loves to preach. She is a classically trained vocalist and pianist and enjoys yoga, duplicate bridge and knitting.
