Worship at the Park, July 12

Each year we have an outdoor worship service at a local park, followed by a potluck BBQ and fun for all ages. Join us Sunday, July 12 for Worship at the Park at Lake Boren Park in Newcastle. These are always fun, informal and welcoming services -- feel free to bring friends and neighbors.

We'll have worship at 10 a.m., with musical leadership from the Sojourners Praise Band. We'll provide the BBQ meat and fixings, plus paper products. Everyone else is asked to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share.

Lake Boren Park is located at 84th Way SE and Coal Creek Parkway SE, Newcastle. There is limited parking at the park and some overflow parking on the street. Carpools will leave St. Margaret's at 9:30 a.m.

St. Margaret's Award Winning Garden

Our front entrance garden has been given an "Award of Merit" by the national Perennial Plant Association. Designed two years ago by Warren Klink, our Sexton and a professional landscape architect, the garden softens the harsh concrete at the church's entrance and adds color and movement with Bergenia, Panicum, small leafed Boston ivy, and seasonal flowers. Plants were also chosen for their lower maintenance and water needs, in keeping with our environmental commitment and direction from the Greening of St. Margaret's ministry. Judges praised the garden's "lovely textures" and "good winter interest."

Warren will represent the church in St. Louis, Missouri to accept the award. The design will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Perennial Plants Journal.

Discovery Canyon Vacation Bible School,
July 27 to 31

Monday, July 6 is the deadline to register for "Discovery Canyon" VBS, which will be July 27 to 31 at St. Margaret's. We invite all children from preschool to 6th grade to learn more about God's creation and his love through stories, music, games and fun!
