Church Shoppers Welcome Church Shoppers Welcome!

Wherever you are on your faith journey, you'll find a warm welcome at St. Margaret's. Whether you're a cradle Episcopalian, a Christian shopping for a new faith community, someone new to faith or someone just wondering about faith, welcome! We trust you will find here love, support and a safe place to grow and explore.

Newcomer Classes

What is the Christian faith about? What is a church? What does it mean to be part of a faith community? You are invited to join us for a series of four Newcomer Classes to explore these questions. Classes will be offered on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on April 28 and May 5, 12 and 19.

No knowledge of St. Margaret's or previous experience with church required! Childcare is available with advance notice to Sonja Smith, ssmith@saintmargarets.org.

Children

Jesus took special notice of little children, and so do we! We have a vibrant children's program, including:

  • Sunday school for children from 4-years-old to 5th grade, including music, stories and drama to reinforce Bible lessons.
  • Joyful Noise Worship, a time to sing, pray and hear Bible stories during worship services.
  • Loving childcare for children up to 3-years-old.
  • Vacation Bible School for Preschool to 5th graders for one week each July.

Youth

Education and fellowship opportunities engage youth from 7th to 12th grades, including:

  • Sunday school focusing on topics relevant to teens.
  • The Mix, Sunday evening fellowship and fun activities from midnight bowling to creating the haunted house for the annual parish Halloween party.
  • Fuzion Lounge, a safe Wednesday afternoon hangout, including video games, music, snacks to buy and space to be with friends.
  • Mission trips, retreats and youth camps to put young faith into action.

Worship

Our liturgy follows the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer. If you're not sure what to do during a service, or you're uncomfortable joining in, it's okay to sit quietly or ask for help from your neighbor. Services include:

  • An early morning contemplative service that is small, intimate and welcoming.
  • Lively contemporary worship with Sojourners Praise Band.
  • Inspiring traditional worship with St. Margaret's Choir, accompanied by our pipe organ.
  • Mid-week services at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays.

Spiritual Growth

Programs for adults also help us remember that faith is a journey and we're always learning and growing:

  • Adult education offered most Sundays, covering a wide variety of topics.
  • Bible studies and evening programs for companionship on the spiritual journey.
  • Annual men's and women's retreats, a time to reflect and refocus in our busy lives.

Outreach

From helping local students to supporting our missionaries in Tanzania and Oman, we try to live out our Baptismal vows to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourself. Outreach efforts include:

  • St. Margaret's Thrift Shop, which makes grants to local, national and international programs and ministries, as well as offering clothing and housewares at reasonable prices to our neighbors.
  • Congregations for Kids' Good Start Back to School and Coats for Kids drives to help needy children in our local school district.
  • Eastside Baby Corner's Mother's Day Baby Shower to collect baby supplies for local families.
  • Emergency Feeding Program, which provides food packs to 1,500 homeless and low income families each year.
  • Support for the Episcopal Relief & Development emergency response efforts throughout the world.

Fellowship

It's what we do best! Come let us demonstrate our warm, loving and inclusive fellowship to you. From special celebrations to small groups, we help parishioners connect with and support one another.
