Welcome to Saint Margaret's

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Saint Margaret's. As members of this faith community, we hope that the pages and links on this website will give you a good understanding of who we are and what we believe as a local congregation that is part of a larger, world-wide Anglican Communion.

Saint Margaret's is a diverse congregation -- theologically, politically, and economically -- belonging to the Episcopal Church. We do not believe we have to think alike or believe the same way in order to worship together as a community. As a sacramental and liturgical church, worship is at the core of our community but we also see spiritual growth for all ages and community outreach as pillars of our common life. For more information about the sacraments, click here.

In 2003, Saint Margaret's completed an expansion and remodel of our sanctuary and facilities. We're intentional about the way we do things, trying to be guided by God, our commonly held values, and a vision that began in 1997 and will be refreshed in 2007, our 50th anniversary as a congregation.

In all aspects of community life, we believe that the mission of our community involves much more than mere maintenance of a congregation. Our primary calling is to help people of all ages connect with God and discover how God is calling them at this point in their lives.

Everyone belongs here, or no one belongs. We have mature, seasoned Christians who have been here for decades and brand new Christians who are just beginning to learn. We like to think that we are a "permission-giving" congregation … that we take people as they are, where they are … and we work hard to include everyone in all aspects of community life. Yet we recognize that people have to find their own way and so, while providing structured ways in which to grow, we also are intentional about giving people options by which they may explore different paths of growth.

Small groups are an important part of our life together. In a congregation as large as ours, it's easy to be anonymous and overlooked. Small groups are a way of being intentional about community. They are meant to be a way of life that welcomes the stranger, giving everyone an opportunity to be connected, and inviting people to deeper life in Christ.

We believe that God is constantly creating new life in everyone … that God's will and purpose for our lives can be known and lived with joy. We are trying to do that as a congregation here. We'd love for you to join us.

Faithfully,

The People of Saint Margaret's
